Cardinal Editor
Effective 27 July 2026 · Last updated 27 July 2026
These Terms govern your use of Cardinal Editor (“Cardinal”, “the app”),
a mobile video editing application, and the related backend service at api.kordiko.com.
By installing or using Cardinal you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
You must be at least 13 years old to use Cardinal. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use it only with the involvement of a parent or guardian. If you use Cardinal on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you are authorised to accept these Terms for it.
We grant you a personal, non‑exclusive, non‑transferable, revocable licence to install and use Cardinal on devices you own or control, for your own creative work, whether personal or commercial.
You may not: reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to extract source code except where that restriction is prohibited by law; resell, sublicense or redistribute the app; remove proprietary notices; or use the app to build a competing product.
You retain all rights to the videos, audio, images and text you bring into Cardinal and to everything you produce with it. We claim no ownership of your content and acquire no licence to it beyond what is technically necessary to provide the features you ask for.
Specifically: when you run an analysis, a small number of still frames from your clip (and, for captions, extracted audio) are sent to our AI provider to generate a result, and are discarded afterwards. That is the entire extent of it. Your video file is never uploaded. See the Privacy Policy for detail.
You are responsible for having the rights to any content you edit, including music, footage, trademarks and the likeness of any person appearing in it.
You agree not to use Cardinal to create, edit or distribute content that:
You also agree not to attack, overload or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Cardinal service, circumvent its rate limits, or use it to process content at a scale or in a manner it was plainly not designed for.
Cardinal produces scores, ratings and edit suggestions using an automated model. These are generated opinions and estimates. They are frequently useful and sometimes wrong.
Nothing in the app is a prediction or promise of real‑world performance. A high score does not mean a video will perform well, gain views, or earn revenue. You are solely responsible for deciding what to publish. Review every suggestion before applying it, and keep your original footage.
You may optionally connect a YouTube, TikTok or Instagram account so Cardinal can display your own channel statistics. This access is read‑only; Cardinal cannot post, delete or modify anything on those platforms.
Your use of those platforms remains governed by their own terms. We are not responsible for their availability, their data, or changes they make to their APIs — any of which may cause the Dashboard to stop working without notice. You can disconnect at any time in the app, or revoke access from the platform’s own settings.
Cardinal is under active development. Features may change, break or be removed. We may modify, suspend or discontinue any part of the service, including the backend that powers analysis, at any time and without notice. We do not guarantee any level of uptime.
Editing, trimming, filtering and exporting run entirely on your device and continue to work when the backend is unavailable; analysis, captions and Dashboard statistics do not.
Cardinal is currently free, and a free tier will remain available. We intend to introduce paid tiers offering additional or higher‑volume features. The terms in this section apply to those tiers when they launch.
You will never be charged automatically. Continuing to use Cardinal, including after a feature moves behind a paid tier, does not enrol you in anything. A charge only ever follows you actively choosing to subscribe or purchase.
Purchases are processed by the app store through which you obtained Cardinal — currently Google Play — under that store's own terms. We never see or store your card details. Your subscription is tied to your store account, not to a Cardinal account, since Cardinal has none.
Prices are shown in the app before you confirm, in your local currency where the store supports it, and may be exclusive of tax depending on where you live.
Unless stated otherwise at the point of purchase, paid tiers are auto‑renewing subscriptions. Your chosen period — monthly or annual — renews at the then‑current price until you cancel, and the store charges your payment method at the start of each period.
You can cancel at any time in your store account's subscription settings (Google Play → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions). Uninstalling the app does not cancel a subscription.
Cancelling stops future renewals. You keep paid features until the end of the period you have already paid for, and are not charged again after that.
Because the store handles billing, refunds are governed by that store's refund policy and are requested through it, not through us. Outside those policies, payments are generally non‑refundable and we do not provide partial refunds for an unused part of a period.
None of this limits any non‑waivable statutory right you have. In particular, consumers in the UK, EU and other jurisdictions with equivalent law keep their cancellation and withdrawal rights, and we will honour them.
Where we offer a free trial or promotional price, the terms shown at sign‑up apply. Unless stated otherwise, a trial converts into a paid subscription at the standard price when it ends, and you can cancel before then at no charge. Trials and promotional offers may be limited to one per person and withdrawn at any time.
We may change prices. A change to the price of an existing subscription takes effect only at your next renewal, and you will be given notice through the store or the app before it applies, with the opportunity to cancel first. Prices already paid for a current period are never changed retroactively.
If your subscription lapses, is cancelled, or a payment fails, access to paid features stops and Cardinal reverts to the free tier.
Your work is not deleted. Projects, clips and media live on your device, not on our servers, so ending a subscription does not remove them — though features that require a paid tier will no longer be available to apply to them. Anything you have already exported is yours permanently.
We may change which features sit in which tier as the app develops. If a change materially reduces what you are already paying for, we will give notice before it takes effect at your next renewal so you can cancel. We will not remove a feature from a period you have already paid for.
Cardinal is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, or non‑infringement.
We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error‑free or secure, that defects will be corrected, or that any output will be accurate or suitable for your purposes.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, goodwill, data or content, arising out of or relating to your use of Cardinal — including lost footage, a failed export, or content that did not perform as you hoped.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for all claims relating to Cardinal is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or US $50.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Your projects and media are stored on your device. We do not hold a copy and cannot recover your work if your device is lost, reset, or if the app’s data is cleared. Keep your original footage and export finished videos to your gallery.
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim or demand, including reasonable legal fees, brought by a third party arising out of content you create or publish using Cardinal, or your breach of these Terms or of any law.
You may stop using Cardinal at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend or terminate access if you materially breach these Terms, or if we discontinue the service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability and indemnity — will survive.
We may update these Terms. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page, and material changes will be announced in the app before taking effect. Continuing to use Cardinal after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota, United States, and applicable United States federal law, without regard to conflict‑of‑law rules.
You and we agree that the state and federal courts located in Minnesota have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of these Terms or your use of Cardinal, except that either party may bring a claim in small‑claims court where it qualifies.
Nothing in this section removes any consumer‑protection right, or any right to bring a claim in the courts of your own country, that the mandatory law of your place of residence gives you and does not allow to be waived by agreement.
